We are pleased to invite you to the Thalassemia Awareness & Free Screening Campaign, jointly organized by the Department of Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering (BGE) and the UIU Social Services Club, United International University (UIU).
This awareness seminar is open to all UIU students, faculty, and administrative staff. It will be led by esteemed professionals in the fields of medicine and public health. The event is being organized in collaboration with BioTED, with the support of Base Care Foundation UK and GenX Health.
Thalassemia is a genetic blood disorder that is entirely preventable through early screening and awareness. According to the National Survey 2024, approximately 11% of Bangladeshis are carriers, with many unaware of their status. A simple blood test can help protect individuals and their families from future health risks.
