01. Scholarship based on previous academic results [Bangla Medium/English Version students] at the time of admission (Undergraduate) [From 1st trimester/semester onwards] [Tuition fee only]
Type Terms and Conditions
Undergraduate (based on HSC result):

25% to 50%

 

 

Eligibility

To qualify for this scholarship in the first trimester/semester, an applicant must have the following grades:

 

a) GPA 5.00 in SSC (with 4th subject) and GPA 5.00 in HSC (without 4th subject) or in equivalent public exams: 50%

 

b) GPA 4.50 in SSC (with 4th subject) and GPA 5.00 in HSC (with 4th subject) or in equivalent public exams: 25%

 

Credit registration requirement

In order to qualify for scholarship under this category, students of undergraduate programs must register a minimum number of credits in each qualifying trimester/semester, including in first trimester/semester, as follows:

 

A. BBA, BBA in AIS, BSECO: 09 credits

B. BSCSE, BSEEE, BSDS: 09 credits

C. B.Sc. in CE: 13.5 credits

D. BSSEDS, BSSMSJ, BA in English: 12 credits

E. B. PHARM: 14 credits

F. BSBGE: 13 credits

 

Grade requirement

Students availing scholarship in the undergraduate programs under this category in the 2nd and following trimesters/semesters will have to obtain a minimum GPA of 3.50 in the qualifying trimester/semester examination for continuation of the scholarship in the following/scholarship-receiving trimester/semester.

 

Other conditions

This scholarship is not applicable for Thesis, Project, Internship, Retake and Repeat courses.

02. Scholarship based on previous academic results [English Medium] at the time of admission (Undergraduate) [From 1st trimester/semester onwards] [Tuition fee only]

Undergraduate (based on O-level & A-Level result): 25% to 50%

 

 

 

 

Eligibility

To qualify for this scholarship in the first trimester/semester, an applicant must have the following grades:

 

a) Five (5) A in O-level and Two (2) A in A-level: 50%

 

[For availing this scholarship by the SoSE admittees, the applicant must have an A in A-level exam either in Physics or in Mathematics]

 

[For availing this scholarship by the SoLS admittees, the applicant must have an A in A-level exam either in Biology or in Chemistry]

 

b) Five (5) A in O-level and One (1) A in A-level: 25%

 

[For availing this scholarship by the SoSE admittees, the applicant must have a B in A-level exam either in Physics or in Mathematics]

 

[For availing this scholarship by the SoLS admittees, the applicant must have a B in A-level exam either in Biology or in Chemistry]

 

Credit registration requirement

In order to qualify for scholarship under this category, students of undergraduate programs must register a minimum number of credits in each qualifying trimester/semester, including in first trimester/semester, as follows:

 

A. BBA, BBA in AIS, BSECO: 09 credits

C. B.Sc. in CE: 13.5 credits

Eligibility

To qualify for this scholarship, an applicant must have the following grades:

 

a) GPA 3.50 on Scale of 4.00 in Undergraduate and GPA 4.50 on Scale of 5.00 in HSC level exams or in their equivalent public exams: 25%

 

b) Two First Class/Division in Undergraduate and HSC level exams or in their equivalent public exams: 25%

 

Credit registration requirement

In order to qualify for scholarship under this category, students of graduate programs must register a minimum number of 06 (Six) credits in the qualifying trimester/semester, including in first trimester/semester. 

 

Grade requirement

Students availing scholarship in the graduate programs under this category in the 2nd and following trimesters/semesters will have to obtain a minimum GPA of 3.50 in the qualifying trimester/semester examination for continuation of the scholarship in the following/scholarship-receiving trimester/semester.

 

Other conditions

This scholarship is not applicable for Thesis, Project, Internship, Retake and Repeat courses.

04. Scholarship based on trimester/semester results (Undergraduate and Graduate) [Tuition fee only]
Type Terms and Conditions
Top 10% students will be eligible to get 25% to 100% scholarship

 

 

Eligibility: Based on the results of the just-previous trimester/semester, with a minimum GPA of 3.50, as follows:

 

a. Top 2% of the total students of a particular program (in order of merit): 100%

 

b. Next 4% in that particular program (in order of merit): 50%

 

c. Next 4% in that particular program (in order of merit): 25%

 

Credit registration requirement for undergraduate students

In order to qualify for scholarship under this category, students of undergraduate programs must register a minimum number of credits in the qualifying trimester/ semester, including in first trimester/semester, as follows:

 

A. BBA, BBA in AIS, BSECO: 09 credits

B. BSCSE, BSEEE, BSDS: 09 credits

C. B.Sc. in CE: 13.5 credits

D. BSSEDS, BSSMSJ, BA in English: 12 credits

E. B. PHARM: 14 credits

F. BSBGE: 13 credits

 

Credit registration requirement for graduate students

In order to qualify for scholarship under this category, students of graduate programs must register a minimum number of 06 (Six) credits in the qualifying trimester/semester, including in first trimester/semester.

 

Grade requirement

A minimum GPA of 3.50 must be obtained in order to be considered for this scholarship i.e., a student will not qualify for merit scholarship if s/he does not have the GPA of 3.50 even if s/he remains in the top 10% of his/her program in the qualifying trimester/ semester.

 

Note

An eligible student will receive scholarship in the 2nd and following trimesters/ semesters only for the equal number of credits—based on whose result the scholarship is being awarded—in the following/scholarship-receiving trimester/semester if s/he registers for more credits in the scholarship-receiving trimester/semester. If the student registers for lesser number of credits in the following/scholarship-receiving trimester/semester, s/he will receive scholarship only for the credits registered in the following/scholarship-receiving trimester/semester.

 

Other conditions

This scholarship is not applicable for Thesis, Project, Internship, Retake and Repeat courses.

05. Scholarship for the Talented Programmers (Either Undergraduate or Graduate —once only) [Tuition fee only]

Talented Programmers: 75% to 100%

 

Eligibility
Applicants applying for this scholarship will be selected from the following groups of students:a. Students who have participated and secured a position among the Top Ten positions in any of the nationally and internationally recognized competitions, as listed by UIU: 100%;

 

[International Olympiad in Informatics – IOI; International Mathematical Olympiad – IMO; International Physics Olympiad – IphO; National Collegiate Programming Contest – NCPC; Bangladesh Informatic Olympiad – BIO; Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad – BdMO; Bangladesh Physics Olympiad – BDPhO]

 

b. Students who have participated and secured a position among 11th  to 30th  positions in any of the nationally and internationally recognized competitions, as listed by UIU: 75%;

 This scholarship can be availed only once—either in an undergraduate program or in a graduate program—and not in both porgrams.

 

Other conditions

This scholarship is not applicable for Thesis, Project, Internship, Retake and Repeat courses.

06. Special Scholarship for foreign students from selected countries (Undergraduate and Graduate) [Tuition and other fees]
Type Terms and Conditions
Scholarship for foreign students from selected countries: 100%

 

Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Palestine, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Türkiye

 

 

Eligibility

 

a. All nominations/applications of scholarship under this category must be processed through the applicant’s respective government/diplomatic mission—upon being offered by UIU, annually.

 

b. A foreign student intending to avail this scholarship must be a citizen of one of the UIU-designated countries.

 

c. The applicants must submit documentary evidence in support of their respective foreign citizenship.

 

d. Academic credentials of these foreign students should be, in general, at par with those of Bangladeshi students admitted to UIU.

 

Entitlements

a. Receiver of this special scholarship will be exempted from paying admission form fee, admission fee, ID card caution money, trimester/semester fee, tuition fee, thesis/ internship/project fee, and transcript/certificate fee.

b. This exemption will not be applicable for Retake courses.

 

Credit registration requirement for undergraduate students

In order to qualify for scholarship under this category, students of undergraduate programs must register a minimum number of credits in the qualifying trimester/semester, including in first trimester/semester, as follows:

 

A. BBA, BBA in AIS, BSECO: 09 credits

B. BSCSE, BSEEE, BSDS: 09 credits

C. B.Sc. in CE: 13.5 credits

D. BSSEDS, BSSMSJ, BA in English: 12 credits

E. B. PHARM: 14 credits

F. BSBGE: 13 credits

 

Credit registration requirement for graduate students

In order to qualify for scholarship under this category, students of graduate programs must register a minimum number of 06 (Six) credits in the qualifying trimester/semester, including in first trimester/semester.

 

Grade requirement

Students availing scholarship under this category will have to obtain a minimum GPA of 2.00 in the qualifying trimester/semester examination for continuation of the scholarship in the following/ scholarship-receiving trimester/semester.

 

Other conditions: This scholarship will stand cancelled if a foreign student fails to register for three consecutive trimesters/semesters without any valid reason.

07. Scholarship for Students with Diploma degree (Undergraduate) [Tuition fee only]

Students with Diploma: 25%

 

 

Eligibility

 

a. The applicant must have a four-year diploma degree from an institution under the Technical Board of the Government of Bangladesh.

 

b. Degree verification would be done by UIU for awarding this scholarship.

 

Credit registration requirement

In order to qualify for waiver  under this category, students of undergraduate programs must register a minimum number of credits in each qualifying trimester/semester, including in first trimester/semester, as follows:

 

A. BBA, BBA in AIS, BSECO: 09 credits

B. BSCSE, BSEEE, BSDS: 09 credits

C. B.Sc. in CE: 13.5 credits

D. BSSEDS, BSSMSJ, BA in English: 12 credits

F. BSBGE: 13 credits

 

Grade requirement

Students availing waiver in the undergraduate programs under this category will have to obtain a minimum GPA of 3.00 in the qualifying trimester/semester examination for continuation of the scholarship in the following/waiver-receiving trimester/semester.

This waiver is not applicable for Thesis, Project, Internship, Retake and Repeat courses.

Waivers (Non-Academic)
To be effective from Spring 2025 until further order; applicable only for the students admitted from Spring 2025 and onwards
01. Tuition and other fees waiver for Meritorious and Poor Students from Underdeveloped Regions of Bangladesh (Undergraduate)
Type Terms and Conditions
Tuition and Other Fees waiver for Meritorious and Poor Students from Underdeveloped Regions of Bangladesh: 100%

 

 

 

3% of the admitted students will get 100% Tuition and Other Fees Waiver under the category of meritorious and poor students from underdeveloped regions of Bangladesh.

 

Eligibility

An applicant applying under this category of waiver (tuition and other fees waiver) must fulfil the following criteria:

 

A. Academic requirement (70% weightage): HSC GPA 5.00 with or without 4th subject, or Five (5) A in O-level and One (1) A in A-level.

 

B. Insolvency requirements (30% weightage):

    1. Documents must be submitted in favour of his/her claim of insolvency, including TIN of his/her parent/guardian.
    2. The applicant will have to submit his/her financial information in the UIU-prescribed format.
    3. The UIU form, which contains financial information of the student, should be co-signed by the student, his/her parent/guardian and by an authorised local government official from his/her place of permanent address, such as Union Parishad Chairperson, Municipality Chairperson or Ward Councillor.
    4. The student will also have to submit an affidavit from his/her parent/guardian certifying the financial status of the applicant’s family/guardian.

 

C. Residency requirement:

    1. The student must have his/her permanent address in one of the Upazillas classified as having “Very High Poverty Level” according to the ‘Poverty Mapping of Bangladesh’, a publication by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS). BBS publishes this report time to time and the list of Upazillas classified as having “Very High Poverty Level” will, therefore, change accordingly.
    2. An application must be supported by the government-approved document(s) to authenticate his/her permanent address.
    3. The student must have passed his/her HSC exam from an educational institution located in the upazilla/district of his/her permanent address.
    4. The UIU form, which contains the permanent and present address of the student, must be co-signed by the student, his/her parent/guardian and by an authorised local government official from his/her place of permanent address such as Union Parishad Chairperson, Municipality Chairperson or Ward Councillor.
    5. The permanent and present addresses provided by the student at the time of admission must match the permanent addresses stated in all other documents submitted, including in the recommendation letters in support of the student’s financial insolvency from the Union Parishad/ Municipality Chairman or the Ward Councillor as well as in the affidavit, etc.

 

D. Selection: Eligibility will be determined following the UIU-approved formula of 70% weightage on merit and 30% weightage on the financial status of the student’s family/ guardian.

 

E. Application submission: Application for this waiver can only be made in the first trimester/semester and the application must be submitted within the deadline mentioned in the UIU notice for each trimester/semester.

 

Credit registration requirement

In order to qualify for this waiver (tuition and other fees waiver) under this category, students of undergraduate programs must register a minimum number of credits in the qualifying trimester/semester, including in first trimester/semester, as follows:

 

A. BBA, BBA in AIS, BSECO: 09 credits

B. BSCSE, BSEEE, BSDS: 09 credits

C. B.Sc. in CE: 13.5 credits

D. BSSEDS, BSSMSJ, BA in English: 12 credits

E. B. PHARM: 14 credits

F. BSBGE: 13 credits

 

Grade requirement

A minimum GPA of 3.00 must be obtained in each qualifying trimester/semester in order to continue to be considered for this waiver in the following/scholarship-receiving trimester/semester.

 

Other conditions: This waiver is not applicable for Admission Fee, ID card caution money, Thesis, Project, Internship, and Retake and Repeat courses.

02. Tuition and Other Fees waiver: Freedom Fighters’ Children (Undergraduate)
Type Terms and Conditions
Freedom Fighters’ Children: 100%

 

 

3% of the admitted students will get 100% Tuition and Other Fees Waiver under the category of Freedom Fighters’ Children.

 

Eligibility

 

a. S/he must be a ward of Freedom Fighter (as defined by the Government of Bangladesh).

 

b. Applications must be supported by government-approved documentary evidence in support of his/her application for waiver under this category.

 

Credit registration requirement

In order to qualify for waiver (tuition and other fees) under this category, students of undergraduate programs must register a minimum number of credits in the qualifying trimester/semester, including in first trimester/semester, as follows:

 

A. BBA, BBA in AIS, BSECO: 09 credits

B. BSCSE, BSEEE, BSDS: 09 credits

C. B.Sc. in CE: 13.5 credits

D. BSSEDS, BSSMSJ, BA in English: 12 credits

E. B. PHARM: 14 credits

F. BSBGE: 13 credits

 

Grade requirement

A minimum GPA of 2.50 must be obtained in each qualifying trimester/semester in order to continue to be considered for this waiver in the following/waiver-receiving trimester/semester.

 

Other conditions: This waiver is not applicable for Admission Fee, ID card fee, Thesis, Project, Internship, and Retake and Repeat courses.

03. Tuition Fee waiver for Students belonging to different Ethnic Groups and Tribal Communities (Undergraduate) [Tuition fee only]

Ethnic Groups/ Tribal: 25%

 

 

 

Eligibility

 

a. An applicant under this category must be a member of the government-gazetted small ethnic and tribal groups, including from the Chittagong Hill Tracts and other parts of the country.

 

b. An applicant must submit documentary evidence in support of his/her claim as a member of the government-gazetted small ethnic and tribal groups.

 

Credit registration requirement

In order to qualify for waiver under this category, students of undergraduate programs must register a minimum number of credits in the qualifying trimester/semester, including in first trimester/semester, as follows:

 

A. BBA, BBA in AIS, BSECO: 09 credits

B. BSCSE, BSEEE, BSDS: 09 credits

C. B.Sc. in CE: 13.5 credits

D. BSSEDS, BSSMSJ, BA in English: 12 credits

E. B. PHARM: 14 credits

F. BSBGE: 13 credits

 

Grade requirement

A minimum GPA of 3.00 must be obtained in each qualifying trimester/semester in order to continue to be considered for this waiver in the following/waiver-receiving trimester/semester.

04. Tuition Fee Waiver for Physically Disabled Students (Undergraduate and Graduate) [Tuition fee only]

Physically Disabled Students:

25% to 50%

 

 

 

Eligibility

 

a. An applicant applying under this category must be declared ‘physically disabled’ by a government-authorised ministry/directorate and must be issued with a ‘Disability Card’.

 

b. Applicants classified with physical disability under “Light” category will not be eligible for this waiver.

 

c. An applicant with “Moderate” disability will receive 25% waiver

 

d. An applicant with “Severe” disability will receive 50% waiver

05. Tuition Fee waiver for Sibling/Spouse (Undergraduate and Graduate) [Tuition fee only]

Sibling/Spouse Tuition Fee Waiver: 20%

 

Eligibility

 

a. Documentary evidence must be submitted in support of their claim to be siblings/spouse.

 

b. Both the siblings/spouse must register courses in the same trimester/semester.

In order to qualify for waiver under this category, students of undergraduate programs must register a minimum number of credits in each qualifying trimester/semester, including in first trimester/semester, as follows:

 

A. BBA, BBA in AIS, BSECO: 09 credits

06. Tuition Fee waiver for Siblings of UIU alumni (Undergraduate and Graduate) [Tuition fee only]

Eligibility

 

a. Documentary evidence must be submitted in support of their claim to be siblings.

 

b. The UIU alumni must be a member of the Association of UIU Alumni (AUIUA).

In order to qualify for waiver under this category, students of undergraduate programs must register a minimum number of credits in each qualifying trimester/semester, including in first trimester/semester, as follows:

 

A. BBA, BBA in AIS, BSECO: 09 credits

07. Tuition Fee Waiver for UIU Alumni (Graduate) [Tuition fee only]

UIU Alumni Waiver: 25%

 

 

Eligibility

 

a. Documentary evidence must be submitted in support of his/her claim to be a UIU alumni.

 

b. The UIU alumni must be a member of the Association of UIU Alumni (AUIUA).

 

Credit registration requirement

In order to qualify for waiver under this category, students of graduate programs must register a minimum number of 06 (Six) credits in the qualifying trimester/semester, including in first trimester/semester.

 

Grade requirement

Students availing waiver under this category will have to obtain a minimum GPA of 3.00 in the qualifying trimester/semester examination for continuation of the waiver facility in the following/waiver-receiving trimester/semester.

 

Other conditions

This waiver is not applicable for Thesis, Project, Internship, Retake and Repeat courses.

08. Tuition Fee Waiver for Bangladesh Government Employees (Graduate) [Tuition fee only]

Bangladesh Government Employees Waiver: 25%

 

 

Eligibility

 

a. Documentary evidence must be submitted in support of his/her claim to be an employee of the Government of Bangladesh.

 

b. The student will remain eligible for this waiver as long as s/he remains an employee of the Government of Bangladesh.

 

Credit registration requirement

In order to qualify for t waiver under this category, students of graduate programs must register a minimum number of 06 (Six) credits in the qualifying trimester/semester, including in first trimester/semester.

 

Grade requirement

Students availing waiver under this category will have to obtain a minimum GPA of 3.00 in the qualifying trimester/semester examination for continuation of the waiver facility in the following/waiver-receiving trimester/semester.

 

Other conditions

This waiver is not applicable for Thesis, Project, Internship, Retake and Repeat courses.

09. Tuition Fee Waiver for Group /Corporate Employees (Graduate) [Tuition fee only]

Group /Corporate waiver: 25%

 

 

 

Eligibility

 

a. Documentary evidence must be submitted in support of their claim to be group/corporate employees.

 

b. To avail this waiver, at least two employees from the same group/corportate must be admitted in the same trimester/semester.

a. Documentary evidence must be submitted in support of his/her claim to be an immediate family member of the UIU employee.

c. The student will remain eligible for this waiver as long as the concerned UIU employee remains a UIU employee (a certificate to this effect must be submitted in every trimester/semester).

 

d. If the UIU employee is a UIU alumni, s/he must be a member of the Association of UIU Alumni (AUIUA).

d. If the UG employee is a UIU alumni, s/he must be a member of the Association of UIU Alumni (AUIUA).

In order to qualify for waiver under this category, students of undergraduate programs must register a minimum number of credits in the qualifying trimester/semester, including in first trimester/semester, as follows:

Grade requirement

Students availing grant under this category will have to obtain a minimum GPA of 2.50 in the previous trimester/semester for being considered for this financial aid. Exception to this provision can be made only in extraordinary circumstances, but the GPA must not be below 2.00 in such cases.

 

Other conditions

 

a. As a general rule, to which an exception can be made only in extraordinary circumstances, students having completed at least half of the required credits will be considered for this financial aid.

 

b. This waiver would be applicable for a single (running) trimester/semester only. If a student needs this aid more than once, s/he will have to apply and follow the same procedure on each occasion.
