National Idea Competition “IdeaStorm” held at UIU
United International University Robotics Club organized two days national online idea competition titled ‘IdeaStorm-2021’. The competition was held on September 23 & September 24 virtually.
Professor Dr. Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of United International University was present as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Munir Hasan, prominent writer and Head, Prothom Alo, Youth Program was present as the Special Guest in the inaugural ceremony. Professor Dr. Md. Sazzad Hossain, Honorable Member, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) and Director, Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) was present as the Chief Guest in the closing ceremony. The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Salekul Islam, Head, Dept. of CSE, UIU. They expressed their hopefulness that this event will make students interested in innovation and new technologies.
School, college, and universities student from all over the country participated in the competition through two departments. A total of 91 teams including BUET, CUET, CUET, Dhaka University participated in the senior section, and 43 teams including Notre Dame College, St. Joseph’s School, and College, Vikarunnisa Noon School, and College, Adamjee Cantonment School, and College participated in the junior section. The winners are selected by presenting their ideas and answering questions in front of the honorable judges who have passed various stages in the competition. The experienced judge panel consisted of highly experienced academicians from different universities, IT experts, entrepreneurs, and corporate leaders.
The winners of this competition who were outstanding with their innovative ideas and bagged the top positions are: from junior category: Champion, EcoKnowMe (Notre Dame College), 1st runner up, Wastech (Adamjee Cantonment College) and 2nd runner up, ASHAA (Viqarunnisa Noon School & College); from senior category: Champion, ABSOLUTE DUO (Khulna University of Engineering and Technology), 1st runner up, Brain Tweezers (University of Dhaka) and 2nd runner up, Team Shobdo-Kolpo-Drum (Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology). The winners were given total prize money of a staggering 90,000 Tk where Tk 20,000, Tk 15000, and Tk 10,000 were given for the 1st prize, 2nd prize, and 3rd prize respectively in both the categories.
Faculty members, officials, students, and other distinguished guests were present in the virtual program.
