Introduction to data mining, data
preparation, data mining primitives, language and systems, architecture,
decision tree and its variants, mining association rules in large databases;
classification and reduction, cluster analysis, mining complex types of data.
Classification approaches such as inductive inference of decision trees and
neural network learning, clustering techniques, inductive logic programming /
multi-relational data mining and time series mining. The emphasis will be on
algorithmic issues and data mining from a data management and machine learning
viewpoint.
