The course deals with the beginnings and development of human society and its culture such as social organization, language and communication, patterns of subsistence, economic systems, the formation of groups, kinship and descent, political organization and social control, religion and magic, the nature of cultural change, the emergence of modern society and technology etc. It also includes the similar organizational and cultural characteristics of contemporary human societies. It further addresses the nature of diverse cultural organizations, heritage, traditions, and ritualistic characteristics of different indigenous communities and sub-cultures of Bangladesh and other countries across the world. Some theoretical knowledge relating to cultures and different organizations are also considered equally important.
